79% of healthcare IT organizations are hiring.

According to a recent article by Healthcare IT News, 79% of healthcare organizations and IT vendors are hiring in response to the industry’s changing environment. Recent federal mandates and the switch from paper over to electronic records have caused an IT “hiring spree.”
 
As an industry with one of the lowest unemployment rates, healthcare IT is faced with a dwindling pool of qualified candidates. Many IT executives believe this shortage of qualified IT professionals is their greatest challenge and will only continue to rise.
 

Unemployment rates significantly lower for IT professionals.

At 3.8%, IT unemployment remains significantly lower than the national unemployment rate of 7.4% as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Current Population Survey.
